Why you should visit Santa's Workshop in Colorado Springs, CO North Pole City

North Pole – Santa’s Workshop

While we were in Colorado Springs (July 2014) we visited the North Pole – Santa’s Workshop at Pike’s Peak.  I visited as I child, I think I was about 7 or 8-years-old.  I remember having a lot of fun as a youngster.  I was excited to take my kids and hoped it was still as neat as I remembered.

Go on a Weekday

Santa’s Workshop did not let us down!   It was great because the park was not crowded, no wait in line for rides, food or bathrooms.  We went on a Thursday, so I’m sure that helped to make it less crowded.

What to Expect

The entire place is so quaint, friendly and clean. We really loved it! Our oldest (13-years-old) said this was her favorite place we visited in Colorado Springs.  There are rides for young and old.  You pay an entrance fee which covers all of the rides, then they give you a card and you charge everything else on it.  When you leave the park they total up your expenses, and then you pay.  This can be a little dangerous!  We kind of lost track of what we were spending.  There are lots of good eats and many cute little shops.  Everything is Christmas themed.  If you are a Christmas lover you must visit Santa’s Workshop.  They have a plethora of Christmas ornaments.  We ended up getting several custom ornaments.  There is a shop that will paint names on any ornament you want.  I got one for each of the girls, they picked their’s out.  I also got one for my Mom and put all of her grandkids names on it.

Expect some hill climbing, but we had pretty nice weather that day, so it wasn’t bad.  Also, know that just because you’re on a mountain in Colorado it is not cold here.  Santa’s Workshop is at the base of the mountain and summer days can still get hot there.

You get to see Santa!  My youngest was scared of him, but we managed to get a picture with him.

Rides

The rides are similar to a traveling carnival, but so much nicer.  They have a zip line type ride that you sit in called Santa’s Sleigh, it offers a great view as you zip along the line. My oldest and I did that together, and it was super fun!  There’s a big Ferris wheel, and it’s a bit intimidating being on the side of a mountain. I stood by and watched as my family rode it. They have a nice carousel, great for the whole family.  We found a lot of rides that go in circles and spin.  Our teen loved those, me not so much.  I just can’t do the rides that go in fast circles anymore.  They are not friendly to my stomach.  There’s a sky ride similar to a ski lift that is nice and relaxing if you are not scared of heights. We found plenty of kiddie rides for my youngest to enjoy. I think they had plenty of rides and other entertainment to make my family happy.

We headed to Meade, Colorado after we left to go visit and stay with friends.  Our plan was to visit Rocky Mountain National Park at least one of the next 2 days.

We really enjoyed our visit to Santa’s Workshop!  Have You been to Santa’s Workshop?  What did you enjoy most?
