How to Make an Easy Mug Cake

Mug cakes have become super popular.  So popular you can buy a Mug Cake Mix at the store! Mug cakes are the easiest way to treat yourself to a quick cake to cure that sweet tooth.  So, I’m happy to share How to Make an Easy Mug Cake.

There have been so many times that I just have this huge urge for chocolate cake, but I don’t want to make a big cake in the oven.  This is what makes mug cakes so perfect.  You only make enough for one, so you are not wasting a big cake or tempted to eat up a big cake when you really only need a small piece to get you through the week.


I wanted to make an easy Mug Cake.  One where I did not have to get out a lot of ingredients or have to spend $3 or $4 bucks on the ready-made packages.  My recipe is, in essence, a premade box cake, but budget-friendly!


This recipe will satisfy that craving for something sweet and homemade.  It’s awesome how simple this recipe is!  It only has 2 ingredients! You can easily make modifications to it too. 


Are you ready for the mug cake recipe ingredients?  All you need is a boxed cake mix and milk!  I’m going to list a few tips below for you. Plus a few extra ingredients that are optional.


Mug Cake Recipe Tips

  • Buy a cake mix that is extra moist.
  • Buy a cake that has chocolate chips in it.
  • Don’t expect it to taste like an oven-baked cake.

A few extras for your Mug Cake

  • Chocolate Chips (or any other chips)
  • Canned frosting
  • Sweetened condensed milk as a topping
  • Use coffee instead of milk or a combo of both
  • marshmallow cream as a topping
  • ice cream as a topping
  • drizzle the top with chocolate syrup
  • mini candy bars in the center of the batter
  • Subs 1 Tblsp milk for 1 Tblsp Vegetable oil. (so, you would use 2 Tblsp milk and 1 Tblsp Vegetable oil)

Ingredients
  

  • 5 Tblsp Cake Mix
  • 3 Tblsp Milk

Instructions
 

  • Add ingredients to mug and stir well.
  • Microwave for 1 minute
  • Cool for 5 minutes

Notes

Some delicious tips and extras. You can add the below extras as topping right after you remove your mug cake from the microwave:
Chocolate Chips (or any other chips)
Canned frosting
Sweetened condensed milk
Marshmallow Cream (as topping)
Use coffee instead of milk or a combo of both
put a mini candy bar in the center of the batter before you microwave
Substitute 1 Tblsp milk for 1 Tblsp Vegetable oil. (so, you would use 2 Tblsp milk and 1 Tblsp Vegetable oil)
