Unique Spots in Oklahoma You Must Visit

I want to share with you some of the best and unique places to visit in Oklahoma. My family and I love quick trips around the state and even a few extended vacations. Some of the places I am sharing with you are a day trip, while others are over 6 hours from our home. All of these Unique Spots in Oklahoma You Must Visit are personal experiences.

Beavers Bend

My husband and I have had two romantic anniversary weekend getaways at Beavers Bend. This year we took our girls. This is the trip that takes 6 hours to get to. Check out our Romantic Beavers Bend Getaway and our Family Vacation in Beavers Bend.

Echo Canyon Spa and Resort

Another place my husband and I visited on a romantic getaway was Echo Canyon Resort and Spa.  They have fabulous food, a spa, spacious rooms, and romance! This is more for couples or a girls weekend, but it’s a great area to visit in Oklahoma.

Pioneer Woman Mercantile and Restaurant

My mom, daughter, and I recently visited the Pioneer Woman’s Mercantile, Restaurant, and Lodge.  This was such a fun little trip.  There are several things to do to keep you busy, along with eating!  Find out more here.

Black Mesa

Black Mesa is the highest point in Oklahoma and is a very interesting place to visit.  We loved hiking and exploring.  I think my daughters’ favorite place was the dinosaur tracks.  The area is perfect for hiking and watching the stars at night!

We live in the armpit of the Oklahoma panhandle. Driving to Black Mesa State Park takes nearly 4 hours! One of the most favorite reasons to visit and camp at Black Mesa State Park is to stargaze. There is very little pollution from light, making it the perfect spot. My family and I have not done this yet, but you can learn about our visit.

Dinosaur Tracks in the Oklahoma Panhandle

The dinosaur tracks are certainly a unique spot in the middle of nowhere to visit! There are no signs to mark this spot, but if you scroll down to the bottom of this post I will explain how to find your way to this very cool spot!

Alabaster Caverns State Park is perfect for the whole family.  They have camping, hiking, and caving!  They have regular tours of the caverns.  You can learn more on my post here.

The Wichita Mountains and Medicine Park

The Wichita Mountains is in southwest Oklahoma.  Great for lots of outdoor activities!  Our favorites are hiking and swimming. We visit as often as we can.  We love to stay in Medicine Park which is near the Wichit Mountain wildlife refuge.

Tiger Safari in Tuttle, OK

Tiger Safari is a great place to visit with your family! My kids love it. You get to hold and feed lots of animals. My youngest is a huge animal lover, so she really had fun at Tiger Safari. My oldest even held the python!

Oklahoma State Fair

The Oklahoma State Fair happens once a year in September in Oklahoma City. One of my favorite things about the State Fair is the food. But, there is a lot more to the Oklahoma State Fair. Check out 10 Things to Do With Your Kids at the Oklahoma State Fair.

Selman Bat Watch Near Freedom, OK

The Selman Bat Watch is an event that happens every weekend in July. It is open to the public, but you must go to their website to sign up under a lottery system. If you are lucky enough, your name will be chosen to attend. Everyone meets at Alabaster Caverns State Park.
