Mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the shortening with a fork or use your food processor.
In another bowl mix vinegar, water and egg. With your hands mold into 4 equal parts. You can place in the freezer at this time. (wrap each seperatly in plastic wrap, then place in a gallon freezer bag).
Make sure not to handle the dough too much, it will change the texture and make it less flaky.
Roll the dough into a circular shape about 2 inches larger than your pan (pie or cake). Gently place it in the pan (I use a cake pan). Using a knife, trim the uneven edges. (your done if using a cake pan). If using a pie pan trim the edges leaving about one inch hanging, then press into the top edges of the pan, using a fork or your finger to make a decorative edge.
